Lay Ministers
Gill Hollis. I am married to Peter and we have a daughter, Liz, who has been ordained as a Deacon and is Curate at Belmont, County Durham. Peter and I have lived in Whittington all our married lives. I was licensed as Lay Reader in 1997. My main roles at church are leading worship, preaching and leading a House Group. In my non-church existence I am a teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages and a private primary tutor. I also volunteer at the Hospice as a bereavement support worker. In my more relaxed moments I love reading, playing badminton, ballroom dancing, hillwalking and watching tennis and snooker.
Dr Trevor James. I am a ‘cradle Christian’ who was ‘called out’ to be a local minister by the St Michael-on-Greenhill congregation nearly twenty years ago. I am a lecturer and researcher in Local and Modern History, based at the Birmingham and Midland Institute; have been Editor of the Historical Association’s national ‘The Historian’ journal since 2006; and am the Rotary District International Committee Chairman, with special interests in Tools for Self-Reliance [in Africa] and Next Stop Symi, our local Syrian refugee charity. I am a Visiting Reader in the parishes of St Giles’, St Mary’s and St Bartholomew’s and am contactable via the Parish Administrator.
